| The city of Bangkok has been voted the best leisure destination in the Asia Pacific in the 2008 Business Traveller Asia-Pacific Awards, while the tropical island of Phuket ranks second. Bangkok also ranks second in the ‘Best Business City in Southeast Asia’ category. Singapore takes the lead.
In the ‘Best Resort Hotel in the Asia Pacific’ category, the Banyan Tree Phuket and the JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa, Phuket are the proud winners of the award.
The annual Business Traveller Asia-Pacific Awards is organized by the monthly Business Traveller magazine, one of the leading travel publications in the region. The Awards are based on votes by corporate executives in an international reader's poll.
The 2008 Business Traveller Asia-Pacific survey was conducted from May to July this year, with frequent business travellers and readers voting for travel and hospitality products and services they value, such as best leisure destination, best business city, best hotel, airline and airport.
Winners of the 2008 Business Traveller Asia-Pacific Awards were honoured at a ceremony held at the Conrad Hong Kong hotel on 18 September 2008. The Tourism Authority of Thailand’s Hong Kong office received the awards on behalf of Thailand.
