Kamalaya was one of 14 nominees in the category, which included distinguished destinations from Asia and Australia. Kamalaya was also nominated in Best Retreat, Best Spa Cuisine and Best Holistic Treatment categories. A panel of 29 independent judges from across the Asia region were charged with short listing nominations and selecting the ultimate winners across 26 categories, digging deep to find the most original places to relax, heal and grow.

The AsiaSpa Awards were created in 2005 in order to give recognition and reward to the region’s best in terms of innovation and quality. Setting a great benchmark for spas in the region as well as around the world, the AsiaSpa Awards put the spotlight on Asia's best spas.

This is the second major award for Kamalaya in 2008. In October, Kamalaya won the Spa Asia Crystal Award for Best Wellness Retreat.
