IGATO – THE GLOBAL GOLF TOURISM ORGANIZATION AWARDS
THAILAND VOTED GOLF DESTINATION OF THE YEAR FOR ASIA AND AUSTRALASIA FOR 2010
Thailand has been voted golf Destination of the Year for Asia & Australasia for 2010 by
IAGTO, the global trade organization of the golf tourism industry with more than 320 of the world’s leading golf tour operators in 47 countries.
These operators control more than 60 per cent of golf holiday packages sold worldwide and last year had a turnover of more than US$ 1.5 billion. Each year the operators vote for those golf destinations that they feel are providing the best golf experience for their clients. They take into account the quality and variety of golf, the cost of golf and the value for money provided along with customer satisfaction.
The announcement was made at the 10th Annual IAGTO Awards Ceremony held during the closing Gala Dinner of the International Golf Travel Market (IGTM) on 19 November in Malaga, Spain in front of an audience of 1,000 golf travel professionals from 60 countries.
The Awards Ceremony was videoed and highlights were broadcasted worldwide on sports and travel programmes including ESPN Star Sports and The golf Channel. Broadcasters also took European Tour Productions coverage.
