The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), as the main organization for Thailand’s tourism promotion, celebrated its 50th anniversary on 18 March, 2010. On this very special occasion, TAT hosted the TAT’s Golden Jubilee Media Fam Trip during March, 2010, in which distinguished media persons in Thailand and from around the world were invited to take part. A highlight of the event was a half-day tourism product seminar “Thailand: Today’s Trends, Tomorrow’s Tourism” on 23 March, 2010 to give in-depth information on Thailand’s new tourism products and strategies to the international media.

10.00 - 10.30 Session 1: “Healthcare Destination Thailand: Situation and Trends”
Presenter: Dr. Zadok S. Lempert, President and CEO of Medico Management & Travel Services Co., Ltd explains why Thailand has the potential to become one of the world’s leading healthcare and wellness tourism destinations.
10.30 – 11.00 Session 2: “Community Based Tourism: Hosts and Guests”
Presenter: Mr. Peter Richards of the Thailand Community-Based Tourism Institute (CBT-I) discusses community based tourism (CBT) in Thailand, as well as shares his experience of working to make CBT a successful experience for hosts, guests, and market intermediaries which bring them together.
11.00 - 11.30 Session 3: “Today’s Experience, Tomorrow’s Memories – Lasting Thai Ties”
Presenters: Ms. Christin Grothaus and Mr. Michael Biedassek, founders of bangkokvanguards, discuss the new trend in tourism which focuses on new experiences, memories and participation, as well as the use of new social media in connecting travellers to destinations.
11.30 - 12.00 Session 4: “Tourism in Thailand: Beyond Luxury”
Presenter: Mr. Sonu Shivdasani, Founder and CEO of Six Senses Resort and Spa, discusses Thailand’s strengths and potential as a luxury tourism destination, drawing on 20 years of experiences as leader in luxury products.
