The one-day tour offers a fascinating glimpse in the centuries old traditions, the culture and way of life of the Suai (also known as the Kui) tribsemen. To this day, the Kui are some of the most skilled elephant handlers in the world.
The day trip also presents the opportunity to visit one of Thailand's ancient temples, built in the Khmer-style, before the famed Angkor Wat of Cambodia.
The tour starts from the Ban Ta Klang Elephant Village, Surin Province, the home of the Kui, who, for centuries, have tended to and trained elephants for use throughout Thailand. These handlers have great respect for their elephants and treat the pachyderms as if they were members of the family.
At the elephant village at Ban Ta Klang, experience an elephant ride. observe how elephants are captured and trained, and witness an ancestor worship ritual.
The Kui tribe are also known for their use of traditional methods of silk production and weaving. Catch a glimpse of how silkworms are raised and how silk is reeled and woven using the traditional loom. A handicraft centre features wonderful handmade silk products for sale.
The tour then proceeds past Buri Ram to Prasat Hin Phnom Rung, the stone temple built in the Khmer architectural style of an earlier period. Experience the tranquility that overcame the ancient kings as they worshipped at and took refuge in the magnificent temples of times past.
Next is s stop at the Community Based Integrated Rural Development (CBIRD).
The tour then proceeds to Nakhon Ratchasima where a stop is made at Dan Kwian, a famous village where earthernware has been produced using age-old traditional techniques.
