To facilitate
visitor travel between and within Thailand and Cambodia, both countries
recently renewed the bilateral Agreement for Implementation of Tourism
Cooperation for the year 2001-2002.
As a result,
Thailand and Cambodia have jointly initiated a tourism promotion
effort launched under the theme of - "Two Kingdoms. One Destination."
which takes advantage of the fact that the two Kingdoms share a
common cultural heritage and are "Sister Civilisations".
"Two Kingdoms.
One Destination." combines the attractions of both countries and
links various destinations in both countries such as Bangkok and
Phnom Penh; Pattaya and Phnom Penh; Bangkok and Siem Reap; Phuket
and Siem Reap and Sukhothai and Siem Reap.
The sales promotion
effort in support of the promotion is being jointly undertaken with
the support of respective travel agents, tour operators, airlines
and the national tourism organisations in Thailand and Cambodia.

LAND OF FABULOUS HERITAGE LANDSCAPE,
CUSTOM OF HOSPITALITY.
There
are three reasons to discover this ancient country, stead
of a prestigious civilisation. Modern-day Cambodia is the
successor state of the mighty Khmer empire.
During
the Angkorian period, it was one of the most splendid cultural
centres in Southeast Asia. There is no other historical site
that matches the grandeur of Angkor. A visitor's first glimpse
of the Angkor complex, which represents the full flowering
of Khmer genius, is a breathtaking experience.
With a
land area of approximately 181,000 sq.kms., Cambodia presents
enormous potential as a travel destination. The Kingdom offers
a multitude o fascinating experiences for the modern-day tourist.
The Mekong
River which has largely determined the way of life of the
people and the history of the states along its banks rises
in Tibet, flows into Cambodia from Laos, crosses through Cambodia's
eastern plains before reaching Vietnam and the South China
Sea. One of the most extraordinary sources of freshwater fish
in the heartland of Cambodia.
Early
Cambodia civilisation dates back to the first century. The
Khmer empire centred at Angkor reached its peak of power in
the 9th to 14th century. This charming land of gentle people
has only recently opened its doors to tourism.
The magic
of the temples and the warmth and friendliness of the people
make Cambodia, truly unforgettable.
