Programmes

TRAIL OF THE EMERALD BUDDHA
Kamphaeng Phet – Lampang – Chiang Mai – Chiang Rai
   

Day 1:

Travel to Kamphaeng Phet. Tour of the Kamphaeng Phet Historical Park, designated a UNESCO Cultural World Heritage Site.

Stop at Wat Phra Kaeow in Kamphaeng Phet, one of the former homes of the Emerald Buddha, to present monk robes called ‘pha paa’.

Day 2:
Travel to Lampang. Pay homage to Phra Borommathat stupa at Wat Phra That Don Tao temple in Lampang where the Emerald Buddha was once enshrined.
Overnight in Chiang Mai.

Day 3:
Visit Hor Phra Kaeow at Wat Chedi Luang temple where the Emerald Buddha was once enshrined.
Overnight in Chiang Mai.

Day 4:

Visit Wat Phra Kaeow in Chiang Rai. Pay homage to the Emerald Buddha installed at the temple.

   
THE FORESTS OF UMPHANG
   

Day 1:
Travel to Tak province. Pay homage at the shrine of King Taksin the Great
Visit the Loi Krathong Sai Festival in Tak

Day 2:
Travel to Umphang district. Stop at Wat Pho Khun in Mae Sot district.

Pay homage at Pha Wor shrine. Then proceed to the three-tiered ubosoth, the interior of which is decorated with laquer and gold.

Day 3:
Take a bamboo raft to Sai Fon Waterfall. Visit Tilosu Waterfall and return to Tak.

   
  DOK BUA TONG FIELDS
   


Day 1:
Travel to Tak province. Pay homage at the shrine of King Taksin the Great.
Visit the Loi Krathong Sai Festival in Tak.

Day 2:
Travel to the districts of Mae Sot-Tha Song Yang.
Pay homage at Pha Wor shrine. Then proceed to the three-tiered ubosoth, the interior of which is decorated with laquer and gold.

Stop at Wat Don Kaeow temple to pay homage to the Marble Buddha in Mae Ramat district.
Visit Mae Usu cave. Overnight at Mae Moei National Park.

Day 3:
Visit mist-shrouded Mae Ramoeng before travelling to Mae Ngao National Park. Overnight at Mae Sarieng.

Day 4:
Visit Kaeow Komon Caves and the Dok Bua Tong fields of Mae U-kor.

   
 

MAE PING-LANNA ROUTE

   

Day 1:
Travel to Tak to see the Loi Krathong Sai Festival

Day 2:
Cruise on the Mae Nam Ping (Ping River)
Overnight on a boat or bamboo raft.

Day 3:
Disembark at Doi Tao district in Chiang Mai.
Visit Phra Buddhabat Chom Thong and Doi Inthanon
Overnight in Chiang Mai

   
 

SUKHOTHAI - CHIANG MAI – TAK ROUTE

   

Day 1:
Travel to Sukhothai for the Sukhothai Loi Krathong Festival and a tour of the Sukhothai Historical Park. Overnight in Sukhothai.

Day 2:
Travel to Chiang Mai

Pay homage to Phra Borommathat at Wat Phra That Doi Suthep. Many stupas are believed to contain holy relics, pieces of bone, of the historical Buddha. In Northern Thailand, these stupas are called ‘phra that’.
Visit the Chiang Mai Loi Krathong Festival

Day 3:
Travel to Tak province. Visit the Thai Elephant Conservation Centre in Lampang en route. Stop at Bhumibol Dam, the Phra That Ban Tak stupa, and the site of a fossilized tree. Visit the Loi Krathong Sai Festival.

Day 4:
Visit Kamphaeng Phet Historical Park, designated a UNESCO Cultural World Heritage Site.
