WAT PAHSUNAN FOREST MONASTERY |
Wat Sunandavanaram in Kanchanaburi province is the 117th branch monastery of Wat Nong Pa Pong Forest Monastery in Ubon Ratchathani province.
The forest monastery is situated on 1,000 rai of land on the foothills of a mountainous region with two prominent peaks – Khao Ngu peak at an elevation of 800 metres above sea-level and Khao Mon at 200 metres above sea level.
Wat Sunandavanaram, or Wat Pah Sunan, was established to promote Buddhist teachings and further the practice of Dhamma and Buddhist meditation. Phra Acharn Mitsuko Kawesko is abbot.
Facilities at the Wat Pahsunan consist of the following:
- An open-sided pavilion (sala) for Dhamma practice that accommodates up to 150 persons
Monastic quarters (kuti) consists of 35 permanent and temporary units
- Residence for laypersons: 10 units accommodating up to 150 persons
- 200 mushroom-shaped portable shelters used for meditation or pak-klot
- Other amenities typical of a forest monastery
- Kitchens, bathrooms

Wat Pah Sunan welcomes a total of 5,000 visitors per year, especially during the Buddhist Lent (Khao Pansa).

Wat Dhammakaya was established to further the Dhammakaya School of Buddhist Doctrine as advocated by Phra Khun Luang Phor of Wat Pak Nam temple, Phra Mongkon Thepmuni (Sodh Jantasaro).
Wat Dhammakaya conducts meditation study courses for monks, novices and lay persons and offers summer courses for novices, religious training courses for youth and students as well as employees of various state agencies on a regular basis throughout the year.
Wat Dhammakaya is the official Ratchaburi province Buddhist Meditation Centre and Dhamma School, endorsed by the Buddhist Ecclesiastical Council or Maha Dhera Samakom.

BUDDHAMONTHON |
Buddhamonthon, which literally means ‘Buddhist town’, is considered to be the most important of the kingdom’s Buddhist sites. Construction of Buddhamonthon began on Vesakha Day in 2500 B.E. to mark the 2500 year anniversary of the founding of Buddhism.
The ancestral site and centre of Buddhist practice is set on 2,500 rai of land straddling the sub-district of Sallaya, Nakhon Chaisri district and Rateuk sub-district, Sampran district. A vast variety of trees and plants have been planted on the site.
An important Buddhist ancestral site, statues and sculpture depict various stages in Lord Buddha’s life, following the Cycle of Birth through to Enlightenment, Lord Buddha’s first sermon (pathomtessana) and Nirvana.
Buddha images in various mudra or postures (prang).
Phrasrisakayatossayaanprataan-Buddhamonthon-Suthat, the principle Buddha image and focal point, provides spiritual inspiration.
Vipassana Buddhist meditation training is held every first Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the month.
Getting to Buddhamonthon from Bangkok
There are three routes.
Option 1:
Via Petchkasem Road
Turn right into Buddhamonthon 4 Road at Km. 22, and continue for approximately 8 kms.
Option 2:
Drive along Pinklao-Nakhon Chaisri Road then turn into Buddhamonthon 4 Road.
Option 3: A scenic route decorated with kinnaree lamps, fountains and ornamental plants. Take Buddhamonthon 3 Road then turn into Uttayan Road heading for Buddhamonthon.

Chalermphrakiat Vipassana Centre at Wat Sai Ngarm Dhammadararam temple in Suphan Buri is a peaceful meditation retreat situated on 100 rai of land. Facilities consist of:
- Vipassana-related facilities
- An open-sided meditation pavilion (sala)
- Insight meditation walking trail around a pond (jongkrom)
- Individual Kuti or monastic quarters for meditation
- Accomodation for lay-persons in a flat
