The Phuket International Blues Festival 2007, organized by Phuket Music Production Co., Ltd., will be held on February 16-17, 2007 on the sprawling grounds of the Hilton Arcadia Resort and Spa, Karon Beach, Phuket.
The festival will be a charity event, with profits being donated to the following organizations dedicated to children’s education:
- The Phuket International Women's Club, a non-profit organization offering sponsorship of education for children and have helped, or are currently helping more than 250 children financially with their education from Kindergarten up to University, including MD.
- The Phuket Has Been Good To Us Foundation works with local educators to improve the economic opportunities and life chances of young people by funding and implementing high quality, practical English language education in government schools in Phuket.
First held in December 2005, The Phuket International Blues Festival was organized to help Phuket and its tsunami recovery and to show the world that Phuket is capable of staging international music events comparable to competing destinations.
2007 headliners: The Rich Harper Blues Band (U.S.A.); Victor Brox (U.K.) and Kyla Brox (U.K.). Also considered was Disraeli Gears, a great Cream tribute band from Los Angeles; Chicago blues legend Jody Williams and others, but since we practically got rained out in December 2005, only 4-500 people experienced the great music. This time around, we have once again secured the same bands to play for thousands on the grounds of the Hilton Arcadia.
Additionally, an All-Star jam session will be held Sunday night, February 18, at Saxophone Jazz/Blues Club, Patong Beach. Thai based bands are: Cannonball, Soi Dog Blues Band, Blue on Blue, The Blues Machine and The Groove Doctors.
