BANGKOK OPERA'S FIFTH MOZART AND MORE MINI-FESTIVAL
October 24 - November 2, 2008
At Thailand Cultural Center Small Hall and Bangkok Arts and Center Center
 
 
Bangkok Opera's annual Mozart and More Mini-Festival, last held in 2006, returns this year after skipping 2007. The festival specializes in smaller-scale, unusual musical events. This year, a week of delightful activities brings together artists from North America, Europe, Asia, and Africa, with the generous support of the South Africa Arts and Culture Trust and the Embassy of Austria as well as Thai Airways International, the Sheraton Grande Hotel, and numerous generous sponsors.

CLASH OF THE TITANS

Two complete mini-operas by Mozart and Salieri
"The Impresario" and "Prima La Musica" with Theresa Plut, Sandra Partridge, Derek Kwan, Li Yang, Zion Dao Ratanahong, Pitchaya Kemasingki, and Korawij Devahastin na Ayudhya. directed by Nancy Yuen (in her operatic directing debut) and Somtow Sucharitkul with the Siam Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Trisdee na Patalung

The HAYDN QUARTET from Esterhazy Caslte, Austria playing a program of Schubert and Mozart ... one of Europe's celebrated chamber ensembles who last played in Thailand for HRH Princess Galyani Vadhana now returns to play in the beloved princess's memory. Made possible by the generosity of the Embassy of Austria.

SOWETO OPERA QUADRO from South Africa... this young quartet of charming singers does a delightful program of classical and pop hits... a memorable and tuneful night! Made possible by a grant from South Africa's Arts and Culture Trust.
