France is amongst the leading countries in Design. Be it a French designer or an object designed for a French label, some of these objects have left a deep impression in our minds and collective memories. In fact, some are so famous that they have been sold for a fortune in auction houses and been given pride of place amongst works of art in museums. They are true icons of the modern world in a certain way.

ICONS OF FRENCH DESIGN
Icons of French Design is a collection of around thirty iconic works representative of French design in the 20th century, from Philippe Starck to Jean Prouvé, from Pierre Paulin to Ronan Bouroullec not to mention Le Corbusier. Produced for the year of France in Brazil (2009), this exhibition was presented in India and will make its way to Korea immediately after la Fête.

French design has always distinguished itself by its capacity to innovate by incorporating cutting edge technologies of each period, and this is typical of a country where engineering has an important place. From the DS Citroën to the Concorde, and Le Corbusier’s chaise LC4,  Icons of French Design pays a tribute to the place that French design enjoys in the history of international design.

Cédric Morisset is the curator of this exhibition.
With a degree in history of art and culture management, Cédric Morisset began as a curator of exhibitions in 2003 on being invited by the Lisbon bi annual design festival. He continued to present many exhibitions in France and overseas such as French Reference in Shanghai (2008), Museum of Guangdong, Canton (2008), Märkisches Museum in Berlin (2007)… or Icons of Design in the Museum of Architecture of Buenos Aires (2008), Museu da Casa Brasileira of Sao Paulo (2009). Simultaneously, Cédric Morisset contributed regularly as a design expert to the magazines A.D. and the newspaper Le Figaro. He participated in the book French Design & designers and wrote the article on the work of Christian Biecher in the porcelain factory of Sèvres (Bernard Chauveau publications) as well as the chapters on design of the book Louis Vuitton, art, mode et architecture (Rizzoli publishing house).

  IMPORTANT
Event dates and programme details may be subject to change.
Many of the festivals and events listed on Thailand's official calendar of annual events are traditional Buddhist or folk festivals, the date of which is either determined by the Buddhist lunar calendar and waxing and waning moon. These are not staged events. The festivals reflect the rhythm of life in rural Thai villages and local traditions as observed in times past.
