LA FÊTE 2010 - HIP-HOP DANCE
FANG LAO
by Compagnie A’ corps
June 22 - 23, 2010 / at 8:00 pm
Venue: Patravadi Theatre - Boat / Express Boat pier 10

French hip-hop dance has been internationally acclaimed and the Thai public has already enjoyed performances by Käfig, Etha Dam and Accrorap.

FANG LAO
A Franco-Laotian-Thai show
Duration: 1 Hour
Fang lao  (or Listen to him) was created in 2010 between Bangkok, Vientiane and La Rochelle. Seven French, Thai and Lao dancers narrate their encounters and new experiences: intimate and unique moments that reflect the unknown, the similar and the impression of déjà vécu (done that).  Fang lao  is a choreographic bridge, reflecting perpetual movement. Going from one universe to the other, the dancers narrate both this world and the other through hip-hop and  fone lao  (traditional Lao dance) and  Khôn  (a Thai dance with masks illustrating passages from the Ramayana). These dances, words and ancestral songs from a familiar distant place are an invitation to travel, to discover another life, another daily routine and the original connection of these men and women with their history. A sensitive hip hop dance that is a remarkable illustration of the cultural exchanges between France, Thailand and Laos.

Compagnie A’ corps
The Compagnie A’ corps was founded in 1998 by Olé Khamchanla (French choreographer and dancer of Laotian origin) and Karim Amghar. I n 2006, Olé left for Laos, Thailand and Myanmar, to learn their traditional dances and create his first solo, Kham…, a return to his roots which gave him an opportunity to deepen his knowledge and refine his choreography. In 2008, he was invited by  La Fête  to present his solo as well as  Ecoute, a performance with Thai dancers. Since then, Olé has been going back and forth between France and Asia. In January 2010, he created his new show “Fang lao” which he presented at the  Fang Mae Khong, the first international dance festival in Laos, of which he was the organizer
