This year, La Fête presents two open air exhibitions — Portraits of Asia (at ZEN), and the Parisian Pedestrian.
Le Piéton de Paris
Le Piéton de Paris is an exhibition with 19 large black and white and colour photos which takes the spectator on a journey through the history of French photography. Playing with perspective, the photos compel the visitor to enter them. The Parisian pedestrian walks through the city, along the Eiffel tower, stops to admire the Panthéon or the Arc de Triomphe. He comes across beautiful Parisian women in the Bois de Boulogne, on the quai aux Fleurs or seated at a Café terrasse on the avenue des Champs-Elysées. Touched, he stops to observe children playing at the Jardin des Tuileries or crossing a road in their uniforms. The pedestrian also likes to relax with the fishermen on Pont Saint Michel or with a gavroche béret on his head when he is not participating in the festivities of the 14 th July. This Piéton de Paris includes celebrated artists of the past such as Eugène Atget, Louis Vert, Jacques Henri Lartigue, Robert Doisneau, the Séeberger brothers or Neurdein and contemporary photographers such as Bernard Plossu, Denis Darzacq, Valérie Jouve, Frédéric Nauczyciel and Patrick Tosani.
Sophie Schmit
Sophie Schmit is the curator of this exhibition. As an art historian, journalist and an independent exhibition curator, she is already known to the audience of La Fête since she organized 100xFrance, History of French photography from its origin to present days in 2008.
