After studying at ENSATT (Ecole nationale supérieure française de théâtre / previously called “rue blanche” from the name of the street where this premier theater school was located), Julien Cottereau decided to train as a clown in London. In 1994, he joined the Cirque du Soleil for the show Saltimbanco where he played a clown and mime solo, Eddy. The show toured the world till 2005. In 2002, Julien Cottereau joined the Clowns sans frontières association and produced shows the world over ( Palestine, Afghanistan, Sudan) for children victims of war, poverty and exclusion. He simultaneously pursued his career as an actor in theater and in cinema and on television. In 2006, the one man show he coauthored, Imagine-toi, which you will see in Bangkok, won him the Moliere 2007 for best new male talent, for his performance as a clown and a mime. In 2007, following a national and an international tour ( France, Switzerland, Belgium, Germany, Australia, USA), he won the 2008 SACD prize for New talent in the category - One Man Show.
