With its warm sun, monsoon showers and rich fertile soils, Thailand is an abundant land and home to many different species of fruits, plants and herbs. And for centuries the Thai people have farmed and cultivated these gifts of Mother Nature as a food source. But many of Thailand’s native species offer more than nourishment and can be used medicinally and in beauty treatments.
Thais use coconut milk in their rich curries but also as a shampoo or to treat sunburn. Mango and papaya not only refresh the palate but can also rejuvenate the skin. This natural goodness and centuries of Thai wisdom have made Thailand a sublime spa destination as well as a culinary centre for food and beauty lovers the world over.
