In conjunction with the recent earthquake near the Indonesia Island of Sumatra, Central Karon Village, Phuket and Central Waterfront Suites, Phuket are safe from the tidal waves. Both of the hotels have not been affected by floods. We wish to extend our sympathies to the friends and families of those people who were affected as a result of the tidal waves that hit some coastal regions in several countries of Asia, including the Andaman coastal provinces of Phuket, Phang Nga, Krabi, Trang, Satun and Ranong located in the southern part of Thailand.

We wish to confirm that the people currently staying in Central Karon Village, Phuket and Central Waterfront Suites, Phuket are completely safe and were never in any danger at anytime during or in the aftermath of the Sumatra earthquake. We also assure that all those arriving to our properties are in no danger. Our other properties are absolutely unaffected.

We thank you for your usual fine cooperation and remain.

Yours sincerely,
Alexandre Glauser

Laguna Phuket

Laguna Phuket was spared the more serious damage reported from other areas of the island as it was protected from a direct hit by the headland to its South. Nevertheless, a wave surge swept the beaches and inundated the ground floor rooms and some of the resort’s restaurants.

Casualties were light and damage to property will be repaired as soon as possible. The beaches and lagoons will be cleared of debris and returned to full operation by tomorrow, 28 December.

Of the five hotels at Laguna Phuket, Banyan Tree Phuket and Allamanda Laguna Phuket were unscathed apart from damage to a small beach restaurant operated by Banyan Tree. The Sheraton Grande Laguna Phuket now has only six rooms out of order, and Laguna Beach Resort 14. The Dusit Laguna Resort suffered the worst and is working to repair the 30 beachfront rooms which were flooded in the Tsunami’s wake.

Staff and guests alike have been marvellous throughout the crisis, and we thank them for their considerable support. With Laguna Phuket returning to normal, we are turning our attention to various outreach programmes to help staff and their families, and areas harder hit with a clothing and supply collection, and donation boxes for an Asian Crisis Fund being placed in the lobbies of our hotels.

KOH LANTA
Pimalai Resort & Spa, Koh Lanta, Krabi, Thailand

Thailand Tourism Award 2004 - Best Tourist Accommodation - Southern Region - By the Tourism Authority of Thailand

January 02, 2005

Dear Partners, friends, colleagues, past & future guests,

Despite all the past reports you may have read or heard, Koh Lanta is in extremely good shape. A quick survey yesterday showed that we are about all, up and running and that the damages caused by the Tsunami are truly minimal and as previously stated nothing to the extent of what you may have seen on television. We have water, electricity, communications facilities, no spread of diseases whatsoever! road infrastructure and the ferries linking the island to the mainland are up and running! Krabi airport is operating and flights are landing & taking off!

Pimalai Resort & Spa at Kantiang beach is also in a very good shape. Like most businesses on the island (and on Krabi mainland), we have been very lucky and the damages at the resort are very little; whatever has been damaged, creates no interference with our operation;
About all of the resort facilities - 76 accommodation units, beach, swimming pool, gym, spa, 2 restaurants offering Thai & Western cuisines, dive center, water sports operations … are fully operational including our own boat transfers in & out from the resort beach to the main land!

All throughout this past week, Clients have been really well taking care off by our team and rest assured that everything is done to make their stay as much enjoyable as possible.

Krabi province where is located Koh Lanta, has not been at all wiped out/ erased from the map of Thailand!... as suggested by some TV reports and by some newspapers and that probably did not put a foot on the island. After this tragedy, we are now desperate to avoid an economical tidal wave; like many others in this part of Southern Thailand, we are up and running and anyone should feel absolutely safe to travel here and enjoy a great vacation. We need to keep on going and for this we need your help.

Kind regards
Franck de Lestapis
General Manager

PATTAYA
The Royal Cliff Beach Resort

PATTAYA AND GULF OF SIAM UNAFFECTED BY TIDAL WAVES
Pattaya, Thailand – 26 December 2004 - In conjunction with the recent earthquake near the Indonesian island of Sumatra, the Royal Cliff Beach Resort wishes to extend its sympathies to the friends and families of those people who lost their lives as a result of the tidal waves that hit some coastal regions in several countries of Asia, including the island of Phuket, located in the southern part of Thailand.

Fortunately, while some very minor tremors were felt in Bangkok, the capital city of Thailand, the earthquake and the resulting tidal waves did not have any effect on the City of Pattaya or any other cities and resorts, situated around the Gulf of Siam.

We would like to assure all those worried for the safety of their relatives and friends, who are currently on holiday in Pattaya – as well as those who are scheduled to travel to Thailand – that our resort city did not experience any ill effects of the earthquake thanks to the city’s geographical location and the nature of the mountainous terrain that surrounds the City of Pattaya from several sides.

We wish to confirm that the people currently staying in an around the resort city of Pattaya are completely safe and were never in any danger at any time during or in the aftermath of the Sumatran earthquake. We also assure that all those arriving to Pattaya and/or to the Royal Cliff Beach Resort are in no danger. Both the sea and the waves have been very calm for the last few days and we have seen clear and sunny skies.
