BANGKOK AIRPORTS
As of December 5, 2008 / 12.00 hrs. (Bangkok Time)
Suvarnabhumi International Airport Officially Re-Opened at 11.00 hrs (Bangkok time). Don Mueang Airport Back in Service on December 4, 06.00 hrs (Bangkok time).

 
 

Suvarnabhumi International Airport was officially re-opened for commercial operations at 11.00 hrs. (Bangkok time) on Friday, 5 December 2008.

Representatives from Thailand’s Department of Civil Aviation, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) – an agency of the US Department of Homeland Security, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and ambassadors/embassy officials were present during the site inspection of the airport.

   

Full airport operations will resume following the re-certification of the airport by the Department of Civil Aviation in accordance with internationally-recognized standards and guidelines established by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), an agency of the United Nations.

   
The temporary Express Check-In Counters at BITEC – the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre were closed as of midnight on 4 December 2008.
   
Domestic flights to and from Don Mueang Airport resumed full service on December 4, 06.00 hrs (Bangkok time).
   
Following the re-opening of Suvarnabhumi International Airport on 5 December 2008, remaining tourists/travellers are advised to contact airline Reservation Centres directly by telephone or e-mail to re-confirm their intention to travel in accordance with standard airline procedures for flight reservations requests.
   
The Ministry of Tourism and Sports has offered assistance to stranded passengers by providing accommodation and meals since 25 November 2008. This will continue until 9 December 2008, midnight (Bangkok time).
