Guido Alberto Rossi
Guido Alberto Rossi was born in Milan in 1949. It did not take him a long time to decide that he wanted to be a photographer, and in 1966 he had his first images published in the magazine Sport Illustrato, for a feature on the Monza Formula 1 Grand Prix.

In 1967 there was something completely different from racing cars in front of his camera: he was in the Middle East as a war photographer, a job which went on for some years, taking him to Africa, Cambodia and Vietnam too. Later, he worked with the major sports and travel magazines of the world on assignments.

In the late 1970 s Rossi started the Italian branch of The Image Bank, with one office in Milan and one in Rome, but he has never given up his primary job as a photographer. Over the years he has specialised in aerial photography, combining his long love affair with pictures with another of his passions, flying.

Rossi’s photos are published daily by the most important Italian and foreign magazines. He has also published 35 pictorial books for different international publishers. In 2003, he left The Image Bank and started his own photo and footage agency, TIPS Images, in 2004.

Hans Hoefer
Hans Hoefer has worked as a commercial photographer based in Singapore since the 1970s, covering studio, media, fashion and corporate assignments for airlines and the travel industry in most Asian countries. He created and published a series of travel guidebooks (Insight Guides) using on his own photography, an endeavour which soon spanned over 120 countries. In 1997, he sold his organisation to concentrate on his personal photography.

Helen Kudrich
Helen Kudrich is originally from Perth, Western Australia and has been based in Bangkok for the past seven years. Originally trained as a graphic designer, she became a professional photographer upon moving to Thailand and has worked on both commercial assignments and personal projects in Asia.

Her photography often focuses on seemingly ordinary moments, being quite factual, but at the same time subtly suggesting less evident narratives, as can be seen in her series on Western China and her project on the Indian Ocean tsunami. Her work has been exhibited at photography festivals and galleries in Europe (Noorderlicht Photo Festival in the Netherlands), Asia (Pingyao International Photography Festival and the Tokyo Contemporary Photography Museum) and Australia (Art Gallery of Western Australia). Her work has also been published in magazines worldwide, including Granta, Stern, TIME and Global Knowledge.

James Nachtwey
Photojournalist James Nachtwey began his career as a newspaper photographer in New Mexico, 1976. Upon moving to New York in 1980, he became a freelance photographer and was tasked with covering the civil unrest in Northern Ireland. Since then he has built up an award-winning and moving portfolio of images which document war and social issues all over the world—El Salvador, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Lebanon, the West Bank and Gaza, Afghanistan, Rwanda, Sudan and Kosovo, among many other countries.

He has held solo exhibitions of his work at prestigious institutions such as the International Centre of Photography in New York, the Bibliotheque nationale de France in Paris, the Palazzo Esposizione in Rome and the Carolinum in Prague, among others.

Among the numerous awards he has been honoured with are the World Press Photo Award (twice), Robert Capa Gold Medal (five times), Magazine Photographer of the Year (eight times) and the Heinz Foundation Award for Art and Humanities.

In November 2006, it was announced that Nachtwey, along with former US president Bill Clinton and biologist Dr E. O. Wilson, had been awarded the 2007 TED Prize, which honours individuals who can impact life positively. The recipients are each granted one wish to change the world and receive US$100,000 to help make this wish come true.

Nachtwey has been a contract photographer for TIME since 1984 and is a founding member of VII photo agency.

Jan Matthysen
Jan Matthysen, a Belgian diplomat and amateur wildlife photographer, has lived in Thailand for two years. With his wife Agnes, he has spent many weekends exploring the dense jungles of Thailand in search of wildlife. Hunting for that ultimate picture — the bloodless hunting trophy — sharpens the eye for the country. Wildlife photography is a tribute to the beauty of our natural heritage, and by showing the public the hidden treasures of nature, Matthysen hopes to generate more awareness, respect, love and admiration for the animals.
