Thailand’s beach resort of Phuket – the ‘pearl of the Andaman’ was awarded the ‘Star of Travel Award’ for ‘Best Destination in Southeast Asia’. The award presentation was made at the Moscow International Tourist & Travel Exhibition Exhibition -- MITT 2005, held in Moscow, Russia during March 23-26, 2005.

Winners were determined by the total number of votes casted by web visitors participating in a web-based survey conducted by Russia’s top travel web site -- www.travel.ru, frequently visited by Russian travellers in search of travel-related information.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand’s Stockholm office represented Thailand and the Thai travel industry at MITT 2005.
