| Bangkok beat three other cities to win the Libur-Traverama Tourism Award for Best International Destination 2007.
The Thai capital beat Sydney, Jogjakarta and Macao with readers of travel magazines Libur and Traverama giving it a thumbs up.
Libur is a monthly travel magazine in Malay with a readership of 100,000 a month while its sister publication, Traverama is an English monthly travel magazine with a readership of 250,000. Both magazines are distributed in Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei and Indonesia.
According to the publishers of the magazine, Karangkraf Sdn Bhd, a poll was carried out among the readers of the two magazines, numbering close to 350,000 to determine the winner. More than 50 per cent of the readers give their vote to Bangkok.
The magazine presented the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Kuala Lumpur with a plaque.
This followed the win last year when Koh Samui was voted as the Best International Destination 2006 by the readers of the magazine. |
