THE TOURISM AUTHORITY OF THAILAND WINS ‘TODAY’S TRAVELLER PLATINUM AWARD FOR BEST INTERNATIONAL FAMILY HOLIDAY DESTINATION OF 2008

Thailand’s national tourism organization, The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), represented the Thai kingdom at the second annual Today’s Traveller Diamond & Platinum Awards hosted at the Hotel Crowne Plaza Delhi in New Delhi, India, on August 25, 2008. The awards recognize and honour outstanding performers in the travel and tourism sector.

Winners were selected by a distinguished panel of judges representing various sectors of the travel and tourism industry such as airlines, private sector organizations as well as senior officials representing 227 destinations from around the world.

According to a report by TAT's New Delhi office, the following factors account for Thailand's success: accessibility and travel convenience, including the availability of airlines; the active contribution of state and private sector tourism-related organizations at home and abroad; and the achievement of internationally-recognized standards and quality of service.

Each of the winners received their awards from Ms Ambika Soni, Union Minister for Tourism.
