BAGGAGE HANDLING
The baggage handling system at Suvarnabhumi Airport has the capability to serve 45 million passengers per year. The baggage handling system at Suvarnabhumi Airport uses the in-line screening method, which scans the luggage while they are on the transporting belts.

FACILITIES
A larger number of facilities have been provided at Suvarnabhumi Airport to offer more efficient services to passengers.
  • 130 passport control checkpoints for arrivals, 72 for departures
  • 26 customs control checkpoints for arrivals, 8 for departures
  • 22 baggage conveyor belts
  • 360 check-in counters
  • There are 100 additional counters for passengers with no luggage to check-in to minimize the queuing time.
  • 107 moving walkways
  • 102 elevators
  • 83 escalators
  • 18 slanted moving sideways
MEDICAL FACILITIES
Medical facilities are located in 3 areas.
The main medical center is on the 1st floor of the passenger terminal complex, Opening hours: 08.00-17.00 hrs.

24-Hour Medical Service
There are 2 further small clinics in the concourse buildings A and G, open 24 hours for passengers. In addition, five ambulances are on stand-by at the airport in the case of emergencies.

AIRPORT HOTEL
The Novotel Suvarnabhumi Airport Hotel is situated on a 2.72-hectare (17 rai) plot of land in front of the passenger terminal complex with 300 metres in between. A hotel of an internationally-recognised standard, the property offers 500 guest rooms and a full range of facilities and services during the initial phase. A connecting route links the hotel itself to the car parking building.

The airport hotel is a joint venture project between three parties: The Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT), Thai International Airways PCL and Krung Thai Bank PCL.

TRANSPORTATION SERVICE
The Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT) has set up the Public Transportation Centre as a business unit to autonomously and effectively manage transportation services at Suvarnabhumi Airport.

Passengers with prior arrangements with members of the Association of Thai Travel Agents (ATTA)
Arrival: Passengers travelling with a tour agency proceed to 1st floor where dedicated pick-up points have been assigned for buses and coaches.
Departure: Drop off area: at the departure hall (Level 4)

For all other travellers, there is a general meeting point on 3rd floor.

Airport Shuttle Buses – Free of Charge
Airport Shuttle Buses operate between the Passenger Terminal Complex and the Public Transportation Centre, where limousines and public buses are parked.

Note: The Association of Thai Travel Agents (ATTA) has reserved 90 parking space for car/buses at the Public Transportation Centre.

The Airport Shuttle Bus service serves points of interest in Suvarnabhumi Airport
by 2 routes (Ordinary and Express), providing Free of Charge services for passengers and staff on duty at the airport. The routes are serviced by low-floor typed Bus powered by NGV (natural gas).

During the initial phase, there will be 2 routes.

  • Route 1 – Express Route
    Serving Passengers travelling between Public Transportation Centre and Passenger Terminal with 3 stops as follows:

    Route 1 is for people who want to minimize the travelling time.
    The distance will be 8.7 kilometres. The starting point is at the public transportation centre and there is only one pick-up point at the long term parking area. One round trip takes approximately 10 minutes.

  • Route 2 – The Ordinary Route with 14 bus stops
    serves those who park their cars at the long-term parking as well as passengers travelling between the terminal and the public transportation center. There are 14 pick-up places along the route.

PARKING
Private cars can be parked at the parking building after dropping off passengers at the 4th floor of the terminal complex. Pick-up points are on the 2nd floor. Parking garages are fully automated.

TAXIS
Taxis drop off passengers at the 4th floor of the terminal complex and leave the area immediately.

For arriving passengers, there is a Taxi Stand on Level 1 of the Passenger Terminal Complex. To maintain between 20 to 25 taxis at all times, supervisors will radio for taxis.

Public taxis will charge a 50 baht service fee on top of the metre charge for the transfer from either the passenger terminal or remote taxi ranks.

AOT-trained taxi drivers will be stationed at the taxi stand at the Public Transportation Centre, located 3 km from the Passenger Terminal Complex but on the airport premises.

LIMOUSINES
Limousines can be ordered at the service counters outside the terminal on the 2nd and 4th floors but will be parked at the public transportation centre.

The limousine service is operated by AOT. There are six categories with total of 380 cars on call 24 hours. Contact the AOT Limousine Service Counter at the arrival hall.( level 2). The passenger pick-up point for limousine service is on Level 2 outer curb. A Call Centre will be set up to promote inbound sales.

CAR RENTAL SERVICE
Two categories of car rental services providers operate at Suvarnabhumi Airport — well-known international brands and a local operator

The Car Rental Centre is located at the Public Transportation Centre. To rent a car, contact the car rental service counter at the arrival hall and take the Airport Shuttle Bus (express route) from the MTB to pick up the car at Car Rental Centre. After use, the car is dropped off at the Car Rental Centre.

AIRPORT EXPRESS SERVICE
Airport express service will be operating between the airport, hotels and various important places in Bangkok and the suburbs.

Public air-conditioned bus services are available on six routes.

6. Number 554 SA. – Bangkok International Airport(Express Way )

Group 2
Public bus services between Bangkok and tourist destination spots

All bus services operating along these routes will drop off airport passengers at the Public Transportation Centre.

Trains by the State Railway of Thailand will be in service between Suvarnabhumi Airport and major places in Bangkok and the suburbs.

Suvarnabhumi Airport City Rail Link
Construction of a 28-km overhead city rail link between downtown Bangkok and the airport is underway. Travelling time between the airport and the city centre will take only 15 minutes. Scheduled to be completed in December 2007, the electric train service will connect Suvarnabhumi Airport with city air terminals along the East rail track serving eight city air terminals: Phayathai, Ratchaprarop, Makkasan/Asoke, Ramkamhaeng, Huamak, Bantubchang, Ladkrabung and Suvarnabhumi.

PRIVATE BUSES
Private Buses are required to stand by at the bus parking lots at the Public Transportation Centre.
Pick up area: at the Arrival (level 1) inner curb
Park condition: only if passengers are waiting at the spot
Drop off area: at the departure (Level 4) outer curb
