CHIVA-SOM NAMED ‘FAVOURITE SPA’ IN THE 2006 BRITISH TRAVEL AWARDS

Chiva-Som, Thailand’s first destination spa and a pioneer in combining traditional Asian therapies with Western health and wellness, was announced the proud winner of the 2006 British Travel Awards in the "Favourite Spa" category. The award presentation ceremony was hosted at the Battersea Marquee in London on November 9, 2006.

The 2006 British Travel Awards are based on the votes of the British public and the opinions of the travel industry.

Aptly named “Chiva-Som”, which means "haven of life", Chiva Som has evolved into the first internationally acclaimed health resort in Asia.

"We are honoured to have been chosen as the "Favourite Spa" in the inaugural British Travel Awards. We believe that through our commitment to personalise service, our unique philosophy and unparalleled setting, we are able to provide guests with a truly distinctive and holistic spa experience, and one which we work hard to maintain in this highly competitive market," says Ms. Joy Menzies, Managing Director of Chiva-Som International Health Resorts, Co., Ltd. "We constantly strive to improve with some exciting and innovative developments to announce in the near future."

Chiva-Som believes that this achievement reflects the excellent reputation that Chiva-Som has established in the British market and its enduring loyalty to the spa.

This year alone, Chiva-Som was voted World's Best Destination Spa in
Travel+Leisure's Best Awards Readers' Survey, Best Destination Spa in Asia by Luxury Spa Finder, and runner up as Favourite Destination Spa in the Condé Nast Traveller Reader's Awards, the only destination spa to have been consistently ranked in the top three since Condé Nast Traveller launched its Readers' Awards eight years ago. Chiva-Som also picked up Best Wellness Retreat and Best Complementary and Alternative Medicine awards in the 2006 SpaAsia Magazine Crystal Awards.

Spread across seven acres of beachfront in Hua Hin on the Gulf of Thailand, the resort is just 185 kilometres south of Bangkok and is easily accessible by ground and air transportation.
