NOK MINI INCREASES FLIGHTS ON CHIANG MAI-NAN ROUTE

Nok Mini Airline recognizes the potential of tourism to Thailand’s northern province of Nan — the land of Eastern Lanna civilization — and has decided to increase the number of flights from Chiang Mai to the town of Nan.

A relatively new and up and coming tourism destination, Nan is becoming popular with both Thai as well as foreign tourists. With the steady increase in the number of visitors to the province, Nok Mini introduced the new route from Chiang Mai to Nan on 5 December 2009 offering travellers a fast and convenient connection between the two northern destinations.

Having seen positive results on the new Chiang Mai-Nan route Nok Mini launched two additional flights in February 1, 2010.

Mr Wanohai Choungchaikitjakam, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Nok Mini Airline, reaffirmed the airline’s keen interest in playing a key role in the development of Nan's economy and tourism.

Mr Wisoot Buachoom, Director, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Phrae Office, is pleased to see that tourism promotion and development efforts for Nan is progressing in a well-defined direction, with a specific focus on culture and nature. TAT, in cooperation with various local organizations recently initiated the “Enjoy Travel around Nan, Care for the Environment” project (Tiew Nan Sodsai, Saijai Sing Wadlom) under the TAT’s "Seven Greens" campaign. The project encourages tourists to travel around the inner city of Nan by green vehicles such as trams, bicycles, and tricycles. Those interested in green adventure activities are able to go white-water rafting on Nan’s famous Nam Wa River.

Mr Buachoom also expressed confidence that tourism to Nan province would be sustainable tourism, as the provincial organizations are focusing mainly on quality rather than quantity. In addition to the pleasure of leisure travel, visitors also gain the gift of knowledge from their travel experience to this magnificent land of Eastern Lanna civilization.
