Ensuring you have a pleasant stay: essential tips to swim safely in Hua Hin

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) would like to announce that Prachuap Khiri Khan province has stepped up efforts to ensure that all tourists, local or international, enjoy a pleasant say in the royal seaside resort as well as to swim safely in the sea.

The province has roped in cooperation from all concerned stakeholders to implement precautionary measures and to provide essential tips for tourists and locals to swim safely.

All concerned stakeholders are to ensure that warning signs in three languages – Thai, English and Chinese – are prominently placed at various locations around Hua Hin Beach. The signs are aimed to provide tourists with the following advice:

  1. Do not swim anywhere where the water is murky.
  2. Do not wear highly contrasting clothing or shiny jewellery when going swimming. This tip is particularly best for staying safe from sharks in the sea.
  3. Do not swim alone, but always swim in groups.
  4. Do not swim beyond 20 metres from the beach, or in deep water.

There is also a plan to designate safe swimming zones, using marking buoys with a net at the bottom. In addition, the province has initiated the establishment of a beach lifeguard patrol and rapid response unit to ensure safety for all.
