MSIG Thailand Action Asia 50 – 1st Edition Trail Running Race

When: 17 December 2017
Where: Doi Inthanon National Park, Chiang Mai

The MSIG Thailand Action Asia 50 – 1st Edition trail running race will be held in Doi Inthanon National Park on 17 December, 2017.

This fundraising event is jointly organised by the Doi Inthanon National Park in cooperation with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), MSIG Insurance (Thailand) and Action Asia Events to raise cash for tree planting and construction of water dam for villagers.

Also known as Doi Inthanon Mountain Marathon, the Trail Running Race is held over three distances: 54km, 34km and 14km. The 54km course will feature a total elevation rise and fall of over 2,000 metres and is the first officially sanctioned ‘Skyrunning’ event in Thailand.

The park headquarters is the start and finish location (23km after entry gate near mountain summit) and race’s cut-offs are at five hours for 14km, nine hours for 34 km, and 13 hours for 54km.

The park has been dubbed ‘the Roof of Thailand’ and covers an area of 482 square kilometres, roughly one-third the size of Bangkok. It is home to the country’s highest mountain, 2,565-metre Doi Inthanon as well as many local tribes and interesting local attractions, including coffee plantations, camping, riverside restaurants and the famous twin pagodas. The trail marathon lets visitors enjoy a unique Thai local experience while embracing the beautiful natural scenery.

This MSIG Thailand Action Asia 50 – 1st Edition follows the successful MSIG Thailand Action Asia 50 edition test event on 4 June. These events help enhance the reputation of Thailand as a centre for sports events in Asia both for athletes and sports tourism enthusiasts.
