Udon Thani launches “Udon…..Serves Happiness in All Menus”

Udon Thani, 9 July, 2018 — The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) in cooperation with Udon Thani province, Udon Thani’s Office of Tourism and Sports, Udon Thani’s Chamber of Commerce and strategic partners in the public and private sectors recently announced the opening of “Udon…..Serves Happiness in All Menus” under the Thailand Shopping and Dining Paradise 2018 campaign to encourage Thai and foreign visitors to shop during the Green Season.

The two-month-long “Udon…..Serves Happiness in All Menus” event in Udon Thani is from now until 31 August.

The event’s opening ceremony was held on 6 July 2018 at Thong Yai Road, in front of the Centre Point 2003 shopping centre, and presided over by Mr. Wattana Putthichart (above photo, left), Udon Thani’s Governor, and Mr. Korawit Wongprasert (right), TAT’s Director of Tourism Investment Department, joining by partners and guests of honour.

TAT Governor Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn said: “TAT recognised Udon Thani as an interesting place with a diversity in tourism, so it is a great opportunity to cooperate with Udon Thani to set up the “Udon…..Serves Happiness in All Menus” event under the Thailand Shopping and Dining Paradise 2018 campaign.

“This campaign is focusing on the distribution of travel and income in order to stimulate the economics of the city according to the government’s policy and reinforce the potential of Udon Thani as a border town with the ability to accommodate tourists.”

Udon Thani’s Governor Mr. Wattana Putthichart said: “Udon Thani is pleased to be the host of the Udon…..Serves Happiness in All Menus event. We have to say thank you to TAT for choosing us to participate in this campaign. It is a great opportunity for our province to promote our products, services, and tourism.”

According to Mr. Wattana, the economic outlook of Udon Thani is expected to grow at an average of 5% this year, due to its strong potential and strong economic fundamentals.

He said that Udon Thani is “the city that is ready to serve all the happiness menus” because it is the centre of logistics, transportation and the hub of trading, which links the Upper Northeast of Thailand and the CLMV countries together.

“Other than that, there is also a wide variety of tourist attractions, hotels, entertainment and services in Udon Thani. In 2017, there were 3.24 million tourist arrivals generating revenue of 8.084 billion Baht.

“Most importantly, people in Udon Thani are very pleased to welcome visitors. This can be seen by the presence of 419 stores participating in the campaign, which is the largest numbers TAT has ever provided. It is expected that during this two-month period, the economic value will increase by at least 500 million Baht.” Mr. Wattana said.

“Lastly, I would like to say thank you to the entrepreneurs who are participating in the campaign and ask all Udon Thani’s citizens to be a good host. Please, give a warm welcome to the visitors and do fair trade to create a good image to our province.”

Mr. Korawit Wongprasert, TAT’s Director of Tourism Investment Department, said that the “Udon…..Serves Happiness in All Menus” is staged under the “Thailand Shopping and Dining Paradise 2018” campaign, which will be held during 1 July – 31 August, 2018, in Bangkok and secondary tourism cities.

“The objective of this campaign is to stimulate the economy during the Green Season, and It will cause the circulation and distribution of income in the economic system.”
