Bangkok, 14 August, 2018 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has donated all the proceeds of a charity golf tourism competition to help flood victims in Lao PDR. It has also set up donation boxes at all its 40 domestic offices nationwide and 20 hotels in Bangkok for the same cause.
On 9 August, Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn, TAT Governor, Mr. Tanes Petsuwan, TAT Deputy Governor for Marketing Communication, and other TAT Executives called on Mr. Seng Soukhathivong, Ambassador of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic in Thailand to donate the amount of 383,000 Baht raised at “The Lady Golf Challenge 2018 & Pan Nam Chai Charity” on 3 August, 2018, at the Alpine Golf and Sports Club.
Mr. Yuthasak said “The collapse of the Xe-Pian Xe-Namnoy Dam on 24 July, 2018, caused enormous loss of life and property. The Thai people were deeply saddened by this mishap. In view of the long-standing friendly relations and cultural and social linkages between Thailand and Lao PDR, TAT is pleased to make a small contribution to help the flood victims.”
The Lady Golf Challenge 2018 & Pan Nam Chai Charity competition included golfers from India, the Philippines, Japan and the People’s Republic of China as well as over 40 Thai tourism entrepreneurs. More funds were contributed by other agencies and tourism industry operators in Thailand.
The donation boxes set up by TAT will be open until 31 August, 2018. All contributions will be sent to the Embassy of Lao PDR. in Thailand.
