Chiang Mai International Airport operates 24/7 from 1 November 2023

The first flight to operate after Chiang Mai International Airport becomes operational around the clock is Thai Vietjet Air’s Flight VZ822.

Bangkok, 1 November 2023 – The Airports of Thailand (AOT) has announced that Chiang Mai International Airport will be operating 24 hours a day from today onwards.

The Airport previously operated from 06.00-24.00 Hrs. With increased flight slots and more options in scheduling flights, the extended hours will facilitate international flights with a departure time from Chiang Mai after midnight and arrival time at their respective destinations the following morning.

The first flight to operate after Chiang Mai International Airport becomes operational 24/7 is Thai Vietjet Air’s Flight VZ822, which will depart Chiang Mai at 00.30 Hrs on 1 November and arrive at Kansai Airport in Osaka at 07.50 Hrs. local time.

Facilities, staff, and transportation systems have been prepared to accommodate tourists. Local community enterprises will be allocated space to sell products to tourists and generate income for the local economy.

The AOT has been coordinating with the airlines and relevant agencies to prepare a suitable flight schedule to minimise the impact on the surrounding communities. Care is being taken to look after those in the affected areas.

The number of international flights and passengers through Chiang Mai International Airport is estimated to increase by 30% in the last quarter of this year, from currently 36 flights with 4,800 passengers a day on 20 routes.

The extension of the Airport’s operating hours follows directives by Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Srettha Thavisin to facilitate travellers to Thailand during the high season, including those from China, Europe, and countries with anticipated growth as part of the government’s quick-win policy to booth tourism.
