Khao Gaeng Thai Curry Rice Championship 2025 crowns Khon Kaen’s Uthayan KhaoGaeng as national champion

Celebrating Thailand’s culinary heritage and the global rise of khao gaeng as a symbol of Thai cultural identity

Bangkok, 20 October 2025 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), in collaboration with the Thai Restaurant Association and partners, proudly announced the winners of the inaugural Khao Gaeng Thai Curry Rice Championship 2025, held from 17 to 19 October at Phenix Pratunam, Bangkok. Under the concept “Value over Volume”, the event aimed to elevate Thailand’s beloved khao gaeng from a humble everyday dish to a cultural cuisine ready to shine on the global stage.

The national title went to Uthayan Khao Gaeng from Khon Kaen Province, which received the championship trophy from Prime Minister H.E. Anutin Charnvirakul and a cash prize. First runner-up was Jitprapatsorn, followed by Khrua Nalinee, Khao Gaeng Suan T., and Wat Ko Jab Bhat Queue. Seven additional “People’s Choice” awards and special recognitions were also presented by food delivery and private sector partners.

Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor, said, “Khao gaeng embodies the charm and cultural wisdom of Thai cuisine. Each dish reflects local knowledge, warmth, and the genuine smiles of Thai people. Today, khao gaeng is no longer just a meal – it represents a heartfelt travel experience and a shared taste of Thai identity.”

TAT expressed appreciation to all partners whose collaboration helped make the event a success, along with the panel of esteemed judges, and reaffirmed its commitment to advancing the Khao Gaeng Thai Curry Rice Championship 2025 as a long-term platform for promoting “Khao Gaeng Thai” towards recognition as a regional culinary heritage, and for inspiring creative menu innovation that showcases the flavours of Thai culture to the world.
