Bangkok, 5 November 2025 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) officially opened the Maha Loi Krathong @Ayutthaya this evening at Wat Phra Ram in Ayutthaya Historical Park. The event features performances of royal compositions in tribute to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother, and showcases Thai cultural heritage through traditional displays of art, craft, and festive rituals presented in a respectful and reflective atmosphere.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Captain Thammanat Prompao, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, together with the Mr. Woravit Yorsaeng,Deputy Governor of Ayutthaya Province, Mr. Nat Kruthasoot, Deputy Governor for Tourism Products and Business,members of the TAT Board of Directors, TAT executives, and representatives from the public and private sectors.
Captain Thammanat said the Maha Loi Krathong @Ayutthaya reflects the Ministry of Tourism and Sports’ commitment, through the Tourism Authority of Thailand, to promoting Thailand as a global destination by enhancing the quality and reach of Thai cultural festivals. “This year’s event embraces sustainability and aligns with the national period of mourning, offering an opportunity for the public to honour Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother. The festival also presents a respectful celebration that contributes to Thailand’s positive image, strengthens community pride, and supports the tourism sector.”

Held against the backdrop of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ayutthaya, the Maha Loi Krathong @Ayutthaya highlights the enduring beauty of the Loi Krathong tradition, which reflects Thai heritage, creativity, and sense of unity. Adjusted in tone to suit the mourning period, the event features the traditional Noppamas procession led by Opal Suchata Chuangsri, Miss World 2025 and TAT Tourism Ambassador, together with symbolic illuminations, a drone show in royal tribute, and traditional fireworks. The programme centres on cultural performances and community participation that encourage appreciation of Thai identity in a serene and graceful setting.
The Maha Loi Krathong @Ayutthaya concludes on 6 November 2025 at Wat Phra Ram, Ayutthaya Historical Park, from 16.00 to 22.00 Hrs. Visitors are encouraged to dress in mourning attire, modest colours, or wear black ribbons as a mark of respect.
