TAT launches Lady Journey A Touch of Thainess experiential trips

Bangkok, 6 May, 2015 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is joining hands with UOB Lady’s Card, United Overseas Bank (UOB) in launching a series of “Lady Journey: A Touch of Thainess” experiential trips to instill the spirit of nationhood and national pride among female Thai travellers as well as to showcase unseen and emerging Thai tourist attractions renowned for unique history, culture and lifestyle.

Mrs. Juthaporn Rerngronasa, TAT Acting Governor and Deputy Governor for International Marketing – Europe, Africa, Middle East and Americas said, “This project is in line with our 2015 Discover Thainess campaign, which aims at encouraging both Thai and foreign travellers to get to know more about Thai culture, the Thai way of life and Thai experience – the characteristic that makes Thailand very unique and sets us apart from all other countries. These five specially-created trips will also help to entice Thai women to take domestic trips more regularly.”

TAT will host five groups of Thai female celebrities and media to join the “Lady Journey: A Touch of Thainess” experiential trips, which will take place between May and August 2015, starting from the “Thainess – Thai Food” to Chanthaburi from 15-17 May, followed by the “Thainess – Thai Tradition” to Loei from 26-28 June, the “Thainess – Thai Arts and Crafts” to Nan and Phrae from 24-26 July, the “Thainess – Thai Way of Life” to Satun from 7-9 August, and the “Thainess – Thai Rice” to Kanchanaburi from 14-16 August.

Mrs. Pataraporn Sithivanich, TAT Excutive Director of Product Promotion Department said, “This is the fifth edition of the Lady Journey project that is being organised under the theme A Touch of Thainess to promote community travel experiences among Thai ladies including working women, mothers and daughters, sisters and friends. These five trips have been designed to feature all elements that make Thailand unique as a destination, including nature, culture, traditions and the local way of life.”

UOB has been the main supporter of TAT’s Lady Journey project for five consecutive years.     Mr. Yuttachai Teyarachakul, Managing Director, Country Head of Personal Financial Services UOB (Thai) said, “We would like UOB Lady’s Card to be a part in encouraging the new generation of women to travel and spend their holiday in Thailand. The project will also help strengthen the presence of the UOB Lady’s Card in the Thai market.”
