Ao Nang listed in TripAdvisor’s 10 must-go places in 2015


Bangkok, 11 December, 2014 – Ao Nang, one of the most popular tourist attractions in the southern Thai province of Krabi, was named among the 10 Destinations on the Rise in the World by TripAdvisor’s Travelers’ Choice Awards, released earlier this month.

Mr. Thawatchai Arunyik, TAT Governor said, “Ao Nang is popular for its scenic beach and relaxing ambience, and a selection of nice accommodation, restaurants and bars. The beach is also a transportation hub to enjoy the beautiful nature of nearby islands, including Rai Le Beach, Phra Nang Cave, Ko Poda and Ko Kai. Having been named among the 10 Destinations on the Rise in the World for 2015 by globetrotters will help enhance the attractiveness of this lovely beach destination, and attract more visitors.”

Ao Nang was ranked in the fourth place, after Da Nang (Vietnam), Sihanouville (Cambodia) and Limassol (Cyprus). In the fifth to 10th place are Bodrum City (Turkey), Naha (Japan), Hurghada (Egypt), Kazan (Russia), Manaus (Brazil) and Eilat (Israel).

The Travelers’ Choice Destinations on the Rise in the World listed Ao Nang as offering 87 hotels, 157 restaurants and 78 attractions. Meanwhile, in an article titled “TripAdvisor names its 10 Destinations on the Rise” written for CNN Travel, the writer Katia Hetter described Ao Nang as being “known for its beaches and water sports. In addition to swimming and sunbathing at Phra Nang Beach, TripAdvisor reviewers recommend the prawns and papaya at Ton Ma Yom.”

Ao Nang is located some 20 km from Krabi town, and 6 km from Noppharat Thara Beach. Krabi can be reached by plane, bus and car. There are several direct domestic flights from Bangkok, as well as regional direct flights from neighbouring countries.

According to TripAdvisor, the Travelers’ Choice awards for Destinations on the Rise highlight 52 spots around the world that have seen the greatest increase in positive feedback and interest from the TripAdvisor community, year-over-year.

Award-winners were determined using an algorithm that primarily measured the year-over-year increase in positive TripAdvisor traveler review ratings on accommodation, restaurants, and attractions, across destinations worldwide.
