Los Angeles, 10 March, 2015 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Los Angeles Office recently introduced the new “2015 Discover Thainess” campaign at the Travel and Adventure Shows in Santa Clara on 7-8 February and also launched the campaign at Long Beach, California on 21-22 February, allowing visitors to experience some of the unique cultural and natural treasures that Thailand offers.
Mrs. Kulpramote Wannalert, Director of TAT Los Angeles Office said, “By showcasing Thailand’s traditional art forms, letting guests enjoy and sample the spices and tastes of Thai cuisine, and by introducing them to our vibrant contemporary arts scene, we have stimulated huge interest in the amazing wonders of Thailand and encouraged people to travel to the kingdom to discover Thainess for themselves.”
Guests at the Travel and Adventure Show in Santa Clara were greeted with a huge display of traditional Thai cotton umbrellas, vibrantly painted. They were also able to get advice on travel and tours in Thailand by meeting TAT’s partners – V’Explore Tours, SITA Tours, GloboTours, Ritz Tours and China Discovery Tours.
With genuine Thai food being one of the reasons that travellers visit the kingdom, guests at the TAT “Discover Thainess” booth were treated to a cooking display by Chef Vanda Asapahu from LA’s Avara Thai Restaurant. Vanda cooked the best-known Thai dish – Phat Thai, on the “Taste of Travel” stage and showed everyone how to cook the deceptively simple dish at home.
Mrs. Kulpramote Wannalert said, “The USA, especially the west coast is a huge market for tourists coming to Thailand, and this event gave us the chance to show how it’s the ‘Thainess’ of the activities and culture that makes memorable vacations. Through demonstrations of cooking, art and ever-present hospitality – we showed our Californian friends just a few of Thailand’s treasures – all waiting to be discovered by tourists.”
Through the “2015 Discover Thainess” campaign, TAT aims to encourage tourists to not only just enjoy the beaches, hills and cities of Thailand, but to experience the distinct and truly Thai qualities of the people and their unique culture. These include the kingdom’s food, arts, way of life, wellness and healing arts, festivals, folk wisdom and an irrepressible sense of fun.
