Thailand pulls out all stops to entertain and cater for Infinitus China’s mega incentives

Bangkok, 16 May, 2015 – Thailand is pulling out all stops to entertain and cater for Infinitus China’s mega incentive programme, which rewards some 12,700 staff and sales-persons with a six-night holiday package in Bangkok and Pattaya from 10-26 May, 2015.

Travelling in groups of 2,000-3,000 each, Infinitus mega incentive comprises three nights in Bangkok and three nights in Pattaya, staying at four- to five-star hotels and occupying around 38,000 room nights in total. In addition to the 110 regular flights to transport the delegates, a total of 400 coach trips and about 36 river cruise tours have been reserved for the groups.

During their stay in Pattaya, Thailand will host four welcome gala dinners, on 15 May by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, on 16 May by the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau, on 19 May by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), and on 23 May by Pattaya City. In addition, all related public and private agencies and organisations in Thailand are working closely to ensure a smooth operation and impressive experience for all delegates.

Mrs. Juthaporn Rerngronasa, TAT Acting Governor and Deputy Governor for International Marketing – Europe, Africa, Middle East and Americas said, “Thailand has become a very popular destination for Chinese travellers as well as a top-of-mind venue for China’s incentive programme in recent years, thanks to our geographical proximity, easy accessibility, high standards of service as well as a wide variety of tourism products and the memorable ‘Thainess’ experience.”

The 17-day Infinitus event is expected to generate around 600 million Baht in tourism revenue, according to Mrs. Juthaporn. Infinitus hosted a similar incentive trip to Thailand in May 2012, but on a smaller scale than this year. The company is reportedly planning to bring up to 20,000 staff on another mega incentive trip to Thailand in 2016.

In recently years, Thailand has been chosen as the venue for mega incentives from China, including Amway China in April 2012 for about 16,000 award-winners and Pro-Health in November 2012 for about 10,000 employees.

China is now the top source of visitor arrivals to Thailand. Chinese visitors totalled 4,623,806 in 2014, a slight drop from 2013 (-0.29%). In 2015, TAT is expecting 5.9 million Chinese tourists generating revenue of 261 billion Baht, up from 190 billion Baht in 2014.
