Bangkok, 15 May, 2015 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) in collaboration with Italian tour operator Futurviaggi recently launched the Amazing Thailand Golf Cup 2015 at Olgiata Golf Club in Rome. The tournament takes place on some of Italy’s most famous golf courses with a Grand International Final to be held in Thailand at the end of the year.
The Amazing Thailand Golf Cup tournament is now in its 5th year and has built up an international reputation since it was first held in 2010. The tournament consists of eight stages held around Italy and more than 1,000 golfers will take part. The Italian National Final will take place on 27 September, 2015. The winners will then compete in the International Grand Final in Thailand either on 25 October or 1 November.
Mrs. Juthaporn Rerngronasa, TAT’s Acting Governor and Deputy Governor for International Marketing – Europe, Africa, Middle East and Americas said, “It is wonderful to see this tournament being so successful after only five short years. The Amazing Thailand Golf Cup not only cements the strong relationships between Italy and Thailand, but also showcases the wonderful golf courses, sporting spirit and warm hospitality of our two nations. I would like to wish all the players good luck in this year’s tournaments and thank the sponsors for their generous support.”
The first two rounds of the Amazing Thailand Golf Cup tournament have already been played at Rome’s Olgiata Golf Club on 11-12 April with the next one scheduled to take place at Alessandria’s Margara Golf Club on 23 May. There will be six more events on 14 June at the Golf Club Ca della Nave, Venice; 20 June at the Menaggio Golf Club, Como; 9 August at the Golf Club Folgaria, Trento; 22 August at the Golf Club Acaya, Lecce; and 12 September at the Golf Club Nazionale, Viterbo., and 26 September at the Golf Club Marco Simone, Guidonia before the Italian National Final on 27 September at the Golf Club Marco Simone.
This year has seen some changes made to the format with the teams, which get the highest scores over the course of the tournament winning the trophy and getting a flight to Thailand for the final as usual. But the teams with the lowest scores will have to step down from the tournament for one year. This new system should ensure that more Italian teams get to take part in the Amazing Thailand Golf Cup and new talent can be fostered.
The Amazing Thailand Golf Cup 2015 will also have new sponsors including popular Italian golfing magazine Golf and Turismo and Thailand’s national carrier Thai Airlines, which will fly the winners to Thailand. High-class Italian shopping group La Rinascente will also be partnering with the cup for the first time this year.
