Bangkok, 21 June, 2016 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Taipei Office in collaboration with the China Times Study Services/China Times Travel Service, Kang Chiao International School in Taipei, Taiwan have organised an educational tour to Thailand for their 9th grade students this year. Kang Chiao students are in the top 3 international school students in Taipei. This educational trip has been separated into 3 groups during 15-24, 16-25, and 21-30 June, respectively, comprising a total of 255 people including 229 students, 18 teachers, and 8 coordinators. During their trip in Thailand, they will have visited Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, and Bangkok.
During their trip in Chiang Mai, the students will have experienced a cooking class, rafting on the Mae Ping River, a tuk tuk ancient city tour, as well as visited Doi Suthep, the Night Safari, and Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden. Also, the TAT Taipei Office will host dinner for the students at Khum Khan Toke to enjoy a Northern style dinner and traditional dance performances. Furthermore, there will be a significant ceremony in which the Kang Chiao students will donate their books and toys to 3 schools: Thasatoi School, Kawila Wittayalai School, and Changkien School. This ceremony will have pointed out that Kang Chiao students from Taiwan not only learn about a different culture in class, but also they will have a good relationship with Thai students by donating books and toys to them.
On 17 June, 2016, the Executive Director of East Asia region of TAT, Ms. Runjuan Tongrut; Director of the TAT Chiang Mai Office, Mr. Wisut Buachum, and the Deputy Director of the TAT Taipei Office, Mrs. Duangjai Kanteeranon joined the dinner and ceremony. Ms. Runjuan Tongrut, gave a welcome speech to the students.
In Chiang Rai they will have visited the Hall of Opium Museum, Wat Rong Khun and enjoyed cruising at the Golden Triangle. After Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai, the students will take the night train to Bangkok. During their stay in Bangkok, they will visit Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, an international school, Asiatique The Riverfront, TCDC, and Siam Niramit. On this educational trip, the students will also add Ayutthaya in the programme to study this UNESCO’s World Heritage Site, and take the Grand Pearl to cruise along the Chao Phraya River.
This student trip from Taiwan is a showcase to illustrate that Thailand is a student- friendly destination ready to welcome students and youth from all over the world to travel in the country. The Kang Chiao school educational tour to Thailand this year will be a beneficial example to other schools in Taiwan and other countries to bring their students to Thailand.
The TAT Taipei Office would like to expand the number of first-time visitors in Taiwan starting with high school students. This will be a good start, as they can come back to Thailand again with their family, friends, and even colleagues in the future once they have a wonderful experience on their first visit. Furthermore, the TAT Taipei Office will continue planning to organise seminars in order to promote student educational tours to Thailand to other high schools in Taiwan. We hope through this successful experience, more and more high schools in Taiwan will consider educational tours to Thailand in the near future. The statistics of the youth market size is 2.8 million in Taiwan and this is a very potential target market. (*reference from Ministry of Interior, Taiwan)
