ASEANTA Awards for Excellence 2018

Bangkok, 7 November, 2017 – Applications are being invited for the ASEANTA Awards for Excellence in Tourism, conferred annually to recognise ASEAN individuals or organisations, which have contributed to the development and promotion of the ASEAN tourism industry.

The Awards are organised by the ASEAN Tourism Association (ASEANTA), an umbrella public-private sector organisation grouping of the ASEAN airlines, and hotel and travel agents/tour operators associations. They have been traditionally conferred at a ceremony organised at the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF), the largest regional travel trade event that will next be held in the northern Thai capital of Chiang Mai in January 2018.

There are six categories of Awards for 2018, namely:

  1. Best ASEAN Travel Article
  2. Best ASEAN Tourism Photo
  3. Best ASEAN Marketing & Promotional Campaign
  4. Best ASEAN New Tourism Attraction
  5. Best ASEAN Airline Programme
  6. Best ASEAN Cultural Preservation Effort

Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) said, “For more than three decades, these awards have recognised the best and brightest of ASEAN travel and tourism products and services.

“Given the superb range of products and services now emerging all across the region, we are sure that the 2018 ASEANTA Awards will attract an even higher quality of applications that will further enhance the image and competitive advantage of ASEAN on the global tourism stage.”

The ASEAN Tourism Forum 2018 (ATF) will be held from 22 to 26 January, 2018. It will be the sixth time for Thailand to host the event, but the first time it will bring a focus on the iconic northern travel destination of Chiang Mai, also known as the ‘Rose of the North’.

ATF rotates between ASEAN member nations and comprises numerous high-level public and private sector meetings. These include the ASEAN Tourism Ministers Meeting, a gathering of ASEAN National Tourism Organisation chiefs plus airline meetings, press briefings, tourism conferences and the must-attend Travel Exchange (TRAVEX) trade fair. Information available here.
