New Amazing Thailand ‘Shades of the River’ Plane from TAT and Thai Air Asia flying high

Bangkok, 19 September, 2018 – The latest Thai Air Asia plane to sport a unique paint design under a co-branding partnership with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has taken to the skies.

New Amazing Thailand Shades of the River plane launched activities in Nakhon Si Thammarat

The airline’s newest Airbus A320 features the Amazing Thailand’s ‘Shades of the River design, reflecting local ways of life in the kingdom. Spanning the length of the aircraft, it depicts in vibrant colour a Thai fruit vendor selling her goods out of a wooden boat as she rows past amazing scenes of natural beauty, complemented by Thai artisan design motifs.

This is the fourth Thai Air Asia aircraft to be branded under the partnership with TAT. Previous designs to have graced the skies were the logo of the 2015 Discover Thainess campaign (Royal Barge), the ‘Yak Cute’ (Thai giant) and Amazing Culture (Thai silk).

The ‘Amazing Thailand’s ‘Shades of the River’ Airbus A320 was officially launched on Wednesday, 12 September on Flight FD3188 from Bangkok to Nakhon Si Thammarat, and is to be deployed on both domestic and international routes.

To mark the occasion, executives from TAT and Air Asia along with members of the media joined Flight FD3188 to Nakhon Si Thammarat. There they took part in a panel discussion on ‘The Shades of the River to Promote Amazing Thailand Go Local Experiences’ at the Phrom Lok community, chaired by Mr. Kitsana Kaewtumrong, TAT Executive Director of the Advertising and Publications Department.

Reflecting the increased emphasis now being placed on community tourism, especially with regard to Generation Y, these distinguished guests from TAT, Air Asia and the media also gained a wonderful insight into the local Nakhon Si Thammarat lifestyle, through some delicious local food.

At a five-station workshop and a cooking class, they learned how to make local favourites like Khanom Chak, Khanom Kho, Bua Loi, Champada Fries, Khanom Khrok and chilli dip Nam Phrik Luk Pra. They also visited a waterfall at Khao Luang National Park.
