TAT Statement on Murder of a Female German Tourist on Ko Si Chang

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), the Thai people, especially the people of Ko Si Chang, would like to express our deepest sympathies to the family and relatives of Ms. Miriam Beelte. We are deeply saddened by this tragic event.

The Thai security authorities have moved rapidly to apprehend the suspect, and the judicial process is now under way. We believe justice will soon be done.

The travel and tourism industry is also working with the private sector to ensure safety and security for tourists and the general public. At present, the concerned authorities are reviewing all safety measures at destinations across Thailand, and the government has instructed them to strictly enforce the law.

Once again, we extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Ms. Miriam Beelte.
