What to expect at the Princess’s Cup Thailand 2019

Bangkok, 8 November, 2019 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is delighted to provide updated information on an array of fun activities lined up for the Kingdom’s biggest annual equestrian competition following our recent press release titled, Princess’s Cup Thailand 2019 elevates to international competition.

According to the Government Public Relations Department (PRD), equestrians from various countries will participate in the Princess’s Cup Thailand 2019, to be held at the Royal Stable Unit, Sanam Pao, Phahonyothin Road, Bangkok, from 19 to 24 November, 2019.

The PRD’s press information quoted Minister of Tourism and Sports, H.E. Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, who is also the Chairman of the Organising Committee of the Princess’s Cup Thailand 2019, as saying  that the event aims to develop horse-riding skills and experience, as well as promote good relations among equestrians and between equestrian clubs.

Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya chairs the Policy Committee of the Princess’s Cup Thailand 2019, which will be organised under the slogan “Keep Working, Riding Happy with 2 Hearts, Feeling for Feeling,” said the PRD’s press release.

Participating in this event will be equestrian clubs from Cambodia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, India, and Thailand. There will be five competition categories: dressage, jumping, eventing, best farrier, and best groom.

Representatives from the International Federation for Equestrian Sports and the Thailand Equestrian Federation will join the judging panel in this event, which is at the level of international competitions. Other activities include dog contests, a run with dogs, a photo contest, and a bazaar of products. A food area will also be arranged.

Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati will preside over the official opening ceremony on Wednesday, 20 November, 2019 at 17.00 Hrs.

The general public is invited to attend the Princess’s Cup Thailand 2019, daily from 19 to 24 November, from 08.00-21.00 Hrs.

In addition, Made by Legacy is promoting the ‘Flea Market at the Princess’s Cup 2019, a collaborative event hosted by the Thailand Equestrian Federation and Made by Legacy, taking place from Friday, 22 November to Sunday, 24 November, from 13.00-24.00 Hrs., at the King’s Guard, 2nd Calvary Division. 

The open-air bazaar, comprising over 80 shops and stalls, is set amidst the buzzing surrounds of the equestrian competitions that will bring together local and international riders from a dozen countries. Visitors can peruse through an eclectic mix of vintage wares, home furnishings, handcrafted design and fashion items, or enjoy ample drinks and eats all the while encircled by lush green fields and idyllic stables – a rare opportunity to experience equestrian life in a truly unique setting opened to the public for this special occasion.

Shopping aside, the market will sees a slew of eateries, from food trucks to street vendors, cooking up all manner of delicious portable fare perfect for a picnic in the fields. Completing the atmosphere are live musical performances and DJ sets playing everything from jazz, soul and funk to disco tunes, beckoning grooves and dance moves well into the evening.

Open to visitors of all ages and with no entrance fee, the event is easily accessible via the BTS Skytrain (Sanam Pao Station) with clearly marked signs leading to the venue’s main entrance. Additionally, the market is pet-friendly.
