Bangkok, 27 March, 2020 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has launched a video to cheer up the Thai people during the current Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Through the video, TAT praises the generosity that Thais are extending to one another that it is the key to getting through such tough situations, and that all will make it together once again.

Thailand, the land of smiles.
The land of omnipresent liveliness with a sincerest smile.
Who would have thought that Thailand’s world-famous smiles would disappear, covered and hidden under medical masks?
COVID-19 is having a great impact.
It came from afar and slowly it moved closer and closer until it finally reached us.
Of course, this is not the first time that we have had a crisis.
And there were times when we did not know if we could overcome them.
But during those times, we have always understood that “generosity” is the key to getting through such dire situations.
We will make it together once again.
By helping each other.
By being generous to each other.
By sacrificing and putting other people before ourselves.
Even though today is a rainy day and the sky is so dark,
But we know it is the rain that makes life blossom.
Just like this COVID-19 monsoon makes us realise that the generosity of the Thai people will always blossom.
And this generosity will build and encourage us, the Thai people, to continue fighting this COVID-19 crisis until we overcome it.
Soon … we will take off these masks and smile at each other again, just like the old days.
And the whole world will be bright again.
