Bangkok, 01 July, 2022 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is pleased to invite tourists to the spectacular ‘Light Up the Night @ Sukhothai Historical Park’ event that will take place for 18 days through the month of July 2022, as part of the celebrations to mark His Majesty King Rama X’s 70th birthday on 28 July.
The Light Up the Night @ Sukhothai Historical Park event will see the ancient architecture of this famous World Heritage Site lit up in beautiful splendour that will focus around Wat Mahathat, Wat Chana Songkhram, and Wat Sa Si.
The light up activities will take place from 18.00-21.00 Hrs. on every Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the month and on the holidays of Asalha Bucha Day (Wednesday, 13 July), Buddhist Lent Day (Thursday, 14 July), and King Rama X’s Birthday (28 July).
On the same 18 days, from 16.00-20.00 Hrs., there will be activities and local food to enjoy in an ancient-style fair at Tha Nam Rap Sadet Market, also located within the Sukhothai Historical Park.
On 13 July, Asalha Bucha Day, there will be a Buddhist candle parade scheduled to take place in the area of Wat Mahathat, from 18.00-20.00 Hrs.
Admission to Sukhothai Historical Park is free for these activities throughout the 18 days, only during the event’s hours from 18.00-21.00 Hrs. This extends to both Thai and foreign visitors.
In addition, tourists are invited to enjoy the Sukhothai Thani Walking Street Market, from 17.00-20.00 Hrs, at the riverside road from the Yom River opposite Wat Ratchathani. The Market takes place regularly on every Saturday.
