Bangkok, 22 January 2024 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) recently conducted the ‘Amazing Thailand Product Update 2024’ in two of Indonesia’s largest cities – Jakarta and Bandung – as part of the strategic direction to provide a platform for Thai and Indonesian tourism industry professionals to discuss businesses and establish partnerships.
The event, which took place in Bandung on 18 January and Jakarta on 19 January, each saw about 100 Indonesian tourism professionals taking part in business negotiations and updates on Thailand tourism.
From Thailand, the participation included 20 Thai tourism-related businesses, comprising hotels, airlines, tour operators, attractions, and golf courses, as well as King Power Mahanakhon, Bumrungrad Hospital, and Masterpiece Hospital.
As well as business discussion opportunities, Indonesia’s tourism operators in the two cities were also being given an update on quality tourism products and services in Thailand particularly on health and wellness, sports, and responsible tourism.
Mrs. Sirinard Chatsupakul, Director of the TAT Jakarta Office, said “The Amazing Thailand Product Update in Jakarta and Bandung underlined Thailand’s ongoing direction towards high value and sustainable tourism. The event showcased a range meaningful travel experiences exclusive to Thailand, while promoting stronger business relationship between Thai and Indonesian tourism partners.”
The Thailand Product Update session also placed emphasis on building a 360º partnership with partners related to the tourism industry and beyond, such as, destination management companies (DMC), airlines, hospitals, and other private sectors. Forging alliances with local partners formed part of the TAT’s plans to boost tourism to Thailand.
The event in Jakarta was also attended by H.E. Prapan Disyatat, Ambassador of Thailand to Indonesia, along with representatives from Team Thailand, including the Thai Trade, Board of Investment Thailand, and Thailand Agriculture in Jakarta.
Jakarta and Bandung are among economically important cities in Indonesia, with several airlines offering direct flights between Jakarta and Bangkok.
In 2023, Indonesia ranked the 13th largest source of tourist market to Thailand, with a total of 760,938 visitors. TAT expects the number to increase to 800,000 visitors in 2024.
