Bangkok, 23 October 2026 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is presenting Amazing Mekong by Amazing Thailand night-time experiences alongside the 2026 Nakhon Phanom Illuminated Boat Procession. Running from 22–27 October along the Mekong riverfront, the activities build on the Signature Thailand Event’s local traditions through light, design, performance and hands-on participation.
A specially created TAT illuminated boat extends the experience onto the Mekong, combining modern lighting technology with design inspired by Nakhon Phanom’s cultural identity. The boat is on display from 18.00–22.00 on 22 and 27 October, cruises the Mekong at 19.00 on 23–25 October, and joins the 26 October finale with a river presentation at 22.20.
From 24–26 October, 800 drones will add another dimension above the Mekong with choreographed formations reflecting the festival theme. On 24 and 25 October, the drone show begins at 19.30 at the Si Sattanakharat riverside area, following the illuminated boat presentation. On 26 October, the programme concludes at 23.30 with a special 800-drone display combined with fireworks.
The riverside programme also brings Isan culture to life through Molam and traditional music performances. Daily from 16.00–18.00, DIY workshops invite visitors to create flower-decorated miniature bamboo boats or banana-stem krathong as keepsakes inspired by local traditions.
To complete the experience, the TAT Nakhon Phanom Office is illuminated with architectural lighting and a specially designed entrance installation that serves as a night-time photo point. The viewing area also reflects Nakhon Phanom’s riverside way of life, culture and local identity, placing illuminated-boat traditions within a contemporary setting.
These contemporary additions build on the Nakhon Phanom Illuminated Boat Procession as a Signature Thailand Event moving toward “Must-Experience in Thailand” status. By extending the festival experience into the evening, TAT aims to create new travel motivations, encourage longer stays and local spending, and support Thailand’s positioning as a World Event Hub Destination.
