The Tourism Authority of Thailand gets down to business at ITB 2018 in Berlin

Berlin, 7 March, 2018 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) invites all attending the ITB Berlin 2018, the world’s largest travel trade show, to meet with Thai travel executives and government representatives at the Thailand Pavilion during dedicated networking events scheduled from 7 to 11 March.

Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn, TAT Governor, said “The dynamic business programme and large Thai delegation reflects the importance of the five-day ITB Berlin 2018 exhibition. TAT has created a highly conducive business environment that offers multiple hosted opportunities for invited buyers from leading European-based tour operators to meet and discuss business with their Thai counterparts.”

Key activities include a ‘Thailand Mini Mart’ on 9 March from 10.00 – 16.00 Hrs. at the Thailand Pavilion. This table top sales activity has been organised annually by TAT at the ITB since 2012 and now in its 7th consecutive year, bringing together travel decision-makers from Europe and Thailand. This year TAT is hosting 32 invited buyers from leading European-based tour operators who are meeting with 33 senior members of the Thai delegation.

‘Thailand Networking Lunch’ on 9 March from 11.30-13.30 Hrs. is also planned at the CityCube Berlin, with more than 120 invited European tour operators and media members expected to attend for Thailand’s latest tourism update and briefing on new tourism products and services under the Amazing Thailand’s ‘Open to the New Shades’ marketing concept from H.E. Mr. Weerasak Kowsurat, Minister of Tourism and Sports, and Mr. Tanes Petsuwan, TAT Deputy Governor for Marketing Communications.

For this year’s ITB 2018, TAT reserved a total of 540 sq m. in Hall 26B, stand number 221 for senior travel executives from both the public and private sectors.

There is a total of 83 Thai suppliers (71 hotels and resorts; eight tour companies; four representatives from either hospitals/malls/theme parks) spread around the 86 tables, including 17 new participants attending the ITB for the first time. In addition, there are representations from respected government agencies including the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the Sports Authority of Thailand and the Queen Sirikit Institute.

The Thailand Pavilion will feature an information counter detailing TAT’s Amazing Thailand’s ‘Open to the New Shades’ concept along with information on community-based tourism per the current government’s policy.

There will also be impressive interactive displays showcasing Amazing Thailand’s ‘Open to the New Shades’ new products and services, highlighting Thai local arts and crafts plus cultural experiences at the Thailand Pavilion. (For complete information, click here.)

In addition, TAT has for the first time joined the LGBT Travel at the ITB Berlin 2018 as the ‘ITB LGBT Presenting Partner’ with a booth at the dedicated LGBT Pavilion (Hall 21) and a series of Thailand presentations at the LGBT events.
