Bangkok – Mr. Thawatchai Arunyik, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), has been recognised as one of the Asia’s Top 100 Influential People in Travel Business by the publishers of NOW Travel Asia magazine.

The Governor was recognised for his leadership of TAT and its vigorous marketing efforts to maintain the flow of visitor arrivals in what has been one of the most challenging years in the history of Thai tourism.

The honourable Asia’s Most Influential People in Travel Business award was one among several presented at the NOW Travel Asia Awards Gala Ceremony at the Pathumwan Princess hotel in Bangkok. The publishers chose Bangkok for the ceremony to let the world see that Thailand is back to normal.

Mr. Thawatchai stated that “I am happy to have led the TAT during this very important stage of the country’s history. Tourism is now well established as a leading driver of jobs, economic growth, income distribution and sustainability. I would like to thank all visitors who have retained their confidence in the kingdom and maintained their travel plans.

He also added that “We would like to thank all our travel industry friends and partners for their efforts to put the Thai travel industry back on track and we look forward to further cooperating with them all to promote our tourism industry.”

This year’s ceremony was designed to position the NOW Travel Asia Awards more prominently on the world stage and promote NOW Travel Asia as one of Asia’s leading travel magazines.

The ceremony was attended by senior executives representing more than 200 hotels, spas, airlines, restaurants and entertainment complexes in Asia. Other awards were presented in a total of 20 categories, which the lists of winners in each category can be reached at
