The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) takes great pleasure in inviting tourists and foodies to this much-anticipated fixture on the Thailand event calendar, where there’s an array of Thai cuisine to taste, cooking demonstrations to see and live entertainment to enjoy.

Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn, TAT Governor, and Associate Professor Wisanu Subsompon, Ph.D. Vice President for Property and Innovation Management, Chulalongkorn University, officially launched the festival at Friday’s opening ceremony to the applause of the many distinguished guests, VIPs and media in attendance. The evening’s program included stage performances and demonstrations of molecular gastronomy by Thai celebrity chef Nutthapol Pavapaiboon, Italian chef Fabio Fiorelli and Spanish chef Jacobo Astray.

Amid tantalizing aromas and the unmistakable sounds of woks clanging and grills sizzling, visitors to the festival can try signature local dishes from around Thailand, special menus from famous street food areas of Bangkok, seafood from fishing villages in the South and signature national dishes of Thailand like Tom Yum Kung, Phat Thai, Som Tam, Massaman Curry and Green Curry – recently voted by CNN Travel readers to be among the World’s 50 Best Foods.

The festival also features Thai and foreign chefs demonstrating innovative ways to cook Thai food, a Thai rice exhibition, organic food and rare tropical fruits to try, and live entertainment in the form of Thai pop and traditional music, cultural shows and Thai kick-boxing or Muay Thai.

Mr. Yuthasak said, “A key highlight of the TAT’s marketing plan 2018 is Gastronomy Tourism and in line with this, Thailand Live Gastronomy aims to inspire local and international visitors on holiday in Bangkok to take a culinary journey around Thailand, tasting various signature dishes as a way of exploring unique Thai culture and ways of life.”
