Thai Tourism Minister Weerasak Kowsurat leads beach clean-up effort in Chumphon

Bangkok, 19 March, 2018 – H.E. Mr. Weerasak Kowsurat, Thailand’s Minister of Tourism and Sports, recently led a beach and underwater clean-up effort in Chumphon.

The activity took place on 16 March at Thung Wua Laen Beach and Ko Ngam Yai and Ko Ngam Lek islands.

As well as picking up trashes on the beach and underwater, the activities also included releasing hawksbill sea turtles and giant calms, both rare species of marine life, into the waters.

The effort was joined by over 100 participants, comprising government officials and volunteers from the private sector as well as youths from local schools in Chumphon. Also joining in the activity was a total of 75 advanced open water divers.
