Bangkok, 7 September 2026 – Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), together with TAT executives, today welcomed a Weibo delegation led by Ms. Amy Gu, General Manager, Weibo International Department, at TAT Headquarters in Bangkok. Held during Weibo’s 6–11 September visit to Thailand, the meeting focused on future Thailand–China tourism cooperation aligned with TAT’s strategy to position Thailand as a high-value destination offering deeper and more meaningful travel experiences.
Ms. Thapanee said, “TAT sees strong potential to deepen our partnership with Weibo by turning digital engagement into meaningful travel demand. Our next phase of cooperation will connect creators, premium experiences, major festivals and trusted travel information to inspire Chinese travellers to discover Thailand in more diverse and higher-value ways.”
Future cooperation is expected to focus on four areas. TAT and Weibo will deepen engagement with China’s creator economy through leading travel and lifestyle creators, digital media and public figures, using short-form video, photography and interactive content to turn online inspiration into travel.
The partnership will also place greater emphasis on premium, wellness and niche luxury travel, highlighting wellness experiences, high-end resorts and hotels, and distinctive luxury products for higher-spending Chinese travellers.
Festival promotion will form another key area, using Weibo’s hashtag and trending-topic capabilities to extend the reach of multiple Thai events and Festival among younger Chinese audiences.
TAT and Weibo will also strengthen Thailand’s digital tourism ecosystem through communication of Trusted Thailand safety standards, digital payment convenience and Chinese-language visitor services to reinforce travel confidence and encourage repeat visits.
The discussion also explored establishing the Weibo Gala as an annual event in Thailand, building on the success of Weibo Gala 2026 at Siam Paragon in Bangkok in August. Future editions could feature distinctive annual themes to sustain engagement and strengthen Thailand–China cultural and tourism connections.
